Africa investor (Ai) today confirmed that Dr. Hubert Danso, its CEO and Chairman, and the Chairman of the African Union’s Continental Business Network (CBN) and the African Green Infrastructure Investment Bank (AfGIIB), has been appointed to the UN’s Africa Green Business and Financing Initiative Advisory Board.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Africa Sustainable Finance Hub (ASFH) established the Africa Green Business and Financing Initiative to advance the role of private sector engagement towards climate action and the green economy across the African continent, to enable the development of green businesses and financing models, to scale private sector participation in Africa’s growing green economy.
The initiative is designed to be both knowledge-based and action-oriented, developing Action Roadmaps for African States and stakeholder action mobilisation campaigns at the regional and country levels, to engage public and private sector stakeholders to stimulate new actions, partnerships, as well as investment mobilization programming.
The High-level Advisory Board consists of leaders representing the Institutional Investment Community, Private Sector, Civil Society, and National Champions from African governments.
Dr Danso’s role as an eminent Board member and Ambassador for the initiative will be to share his vast institutional investment expertise and green infrastructure investment experience, to assist in identifying private capital mobilization pathways, highlighting the innovative model of the African Green Infrastructure Investment Bank (AfGIIB), which is rapidly establishing African Green Industrial Infrastructure, as a globally competitive investable asset class, through institutional investor-public partnerships (IIPPs).
