New Paper Calls for a Transformative Investment Agenda Aligned with Africa, Nature, and the Real Economy Dr. Hubert Danso and Delilah Rothenberg, (Predistribution Initiative) and Frank Van Gansbeke from Beyond Bretton Woods have released a landmark publication titled Investing to Reconnect Financial Value with People, Nature, and the Real Economy: An Iterative Blueprint for Capital Markets Actors, Policymakers, and Regulators.

This timely paper supported by The Club of Rome and the Generation Foundation, addresses the widening disconnect between global financial systems and the real economy, offering a visionary pathway to reshape the role of institutional capital in delivering mandate aligned sustainable, inclusive prosperity—particularly for Africa and other emerging and developing economies (EMDEs).

The Blueprint poses a critical question:
How can we rebalance Earth’s and humanity’s balance sheets to secure a more inclusive and regenerative economic future?

The authors provide actionable insights into how institutional investors, through the lens of fiduciary responsibility, can lead efforts to transform capital markets into engines of real-world value creation. The paper emphasizes the strategic role that policymakers and regulators must also play in establishing an enabling environment that rewards long-term, sustainable investment in people, nature, and the productive economy.

This Blueprint is both a warning and a roadmap. The global economy has a unique opportunity to align financial flows with real economic outcomes—especially in Africa, where the opportunities for sustainable growth are immense and urgent.” said Dr. Danso.

The paper calls for a systems-level shift in thinking and investing, highlighting the need for regenerative approaches that recognize the interconnectedness of ecological health, human development, economic competitiveness and portfolio resilience. It stewards investment leaders to allocate capital in ways that serve both fiduciary duties and the shared future of humanity on a finite planet.
