Africa investor (Ai) today confirmed that Dr. Hubert Danso, its CEO and Chairman, and the Chairman of the African Union’s Continental Business Network (CBN) and the African Green Infrastructure Investment Bank (AfGIIB), has been appointed to the World Economic Forum’s Sustainability and Smart Cities Taskforce, G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance.
The World Economic Forum’s Sustainability & Smart Cities Taskforce, G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance, unites municipal, regional, and national governments together with private-sector partners and urban residents to focus on a shared set of core guiding principles and policies for the responsible use of smart city technologies.
The Alliance partners with international organizations and city networks to source tried-and-tested policy approaches to these technologies. Its institutional partners represent more than 200,000 cities and local governments, companies, startups, research institutions, and civil society communities around the world. The World Economic Forum hosts the Alliance’s secretariat.
The G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance is an initiative to share best practices in policymaking and promote ethical global policy norms for smart cities.
The Task Forces’ High-level global Advisory Board consists of leaders representing multiple sectors, geographies, and stakeholders, including investors, governments, regulators, property developers, telecommunications, utilities, and transport.
Dr. Danso as a member of the Taskforce will contribute his vast institutional investment expertise and green industrial cities investment experience and network, to the development, implementation, and promotion of the work of the task force and the advancement of institutional investor-public partnerships (IIPPs), to mobilize finance at-scale for Africa’s emerging green industrial cities.
