Commemorating H.E. President Geingob of Namibia – “Africans should recognise and inspire Africans more”

At COP28 UAE in Dubai in December, it was an honor for Africa Investor (Ai) to recognise and present His Excellency, President Hage Gottfried Geingob, with the Africa investor (Ai) African Presidential “Green Infrastructure Investment Statesman” of the Year Award, for his Climate Investment Statesmanship, championing Namibia’s multi-billion dollar industrial scale, green hydrogen private investment programme.

President Geingob, who was today laid to rest, was an ardent pan Africanist and characteristically emphasised in his profound Ai Award Acceptance Message in thanking Africa Investor (Ai), that ‘Africans should recognise and inspire Africans more’. This resonant message inspired and reverberated throughout subsequent public and private sector leaders speaking after him at the prestigious Ai NDC Investment Awards, co-hosted with the African Green Infrastructure Investment Bank (AfGIIB) and the COP28 UAE Presidency.

As we, Africa Investor (Ai) and the African Green Infrastructure Investment Bank (AfGIIB) pay tribute to the memory, inspiration and the exemplary Climate Investment Statesmanship of President Geingob – our “Green Infrastructure Investment Statesman”, let us all honor his vision, values and legacy, by re-committing as Investment leaders and Statesmen, to mainstream and champion transformative institutional investor-public partnerships (IIPPs), to audaciously mobilize domestic and global private capital at scale and speed, to transform Africa’s energy systems, and decarbonize our continent and the world at industrial-scale.

We again offer our deepest condolences to First Lady Monica Geingob, (pictured at the awards ceremony), the Geingob family and the Namibian people mourning the loss of President Geingob.

In commemorating President Geingob’s legacy, may his vision guide our actions, as we resolutely realize the continents unparalleled green infrastructure investment opportunities and work collaboratively towards speedily delivering ‘The Prosperous and Investable Africa We Want’.

May his soul find eternal rest in tranquillity.
